Meet Me
Welcome to my portfolio! I am Alex Crespillo López, a predoctoral researcher specializing in Meteorology and Climate Sciences. I am passionate about analyzing climate data and understanding atmospheric phenomena. I love practicing all kinds of sports, I am a lover of nature and travel and I always like to learn new things. Enjoy exploring my work and experiences!

Research Principles
I am committed to rigorous scientific inquiry and transparency, using data-driven analysis and innovative modeling to unravel atmospheric phenomena. Focused on environmental sustainability, my reflective approach drives me to pursue knowledge with curiosity, rigor, and continuous self-reflection—consistently questioning what it means to be a good researcher and how research and learning are intertwined. In every project, I set clear objectives and choose methodologies tailored to the challenges at hand, and I am eager to explore the promising potential of artificial intelligence in my field. This blend of reflective practice and a passion for technological advancement fuels my relentless drive for discovery and improvement.
Professional Commitment
I am currently engaged as a predoctoral researcher at the Pyrenean Institute of Ecology (IPE)-(CSIC), where I apply AI and Big Data techniques to analyze drought patterns and predict climatic changes. My professional journey also includes internships at "Andorra + Research and Innovation" and "TR215 Geological Engineering", experiences that have reinforced my analytical skills and deepened my commitment to advancing research in meteorology. My professional commitment is reflected in a comprehensive approach that details my responsibilities, innovative projects, and reflective practices. I continuously evaluate my work—questioning my role as a researcher, setting clear objectives, and selecting methodologies tailored to each challenge. By documenting project outcomes, maintaining reflective diaries, gathering feedback, and performing self-evaluations (including SWOT analyses), I strive for constant improvement and innovation in my research. Digital Competencies
Digital competences are integral to my research practice, underpinning my ability to innovate, analyze, and communicate complex data effectively. I leverage programming languages such as Python and R for advanced data analysis, statistical modeling, and visualization, which allow me to extract meaningful insights from large datasets. Additionally, I utilize Geographic Information Systems like ArcGIS Pro to conduct spatial analyses, map climate patterns, and monitor drought conditions with precision. Complementing these tools, I employ SQL for robust data management and efficient querying of extensive databases. This holistic integration of digital technologies not only streamlines my research workflows but also enhances collaboration and drives continuous improvement across all facets of my work. Recognitions
Given that my career as a researcher is still in its early stages, I currently do not have many recognitions. However, I am confident that I will achieve many more in the near future. So far, I have completed a degree in Geology and a Master's in Meteorology, along with language certifications in English and French. Before concluding, I would like to highlight my final Master's project, "Analysis of thermal inversions in the Andorran Central Valley and their relationship with episodes of atmospheric pollution and meteorological variables," which stands as my first and only scientific project to date.
